RIPTA TO DETOUR ROUTE 31 (CRANSTON ST) IN ORDER TO IMPROVE ON-TIME PERFORMANCE Detour Effective Immediately

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Route 31 (Cranston St.) in order to improve on-time performance. This route has been severely impacted by traffic generated by Central and Classical High Schools on Westminster Street. The detour, effective immediately, will be in effect from 3:00pm – 4:15pm until further notice. RIPTA is working closely with the Providence School Department and the City of Providence to mitigate traffic congestion so that RIPTA can provide unrestricted service to this area.
