28 May 2013: As in many other areas of life, - employment, housing, tax and pensions, environmental degradation - young people get a poor deal on transport. This issue has just been explored in a briefing and report by Campaign for Better Transport. More than a million young people are not in education or training or are unemployed. If they are in education the costs are going up and they finish with ever larger debts. They struggle to afford growing housing and other costs on low incomes. Transport ought to offer a route out of some of these problems but too often it adds to them. Young people are very dependent on buses to travel to work and education.
