Take action: ask Transport Minister Norman Baker to reject shadowy Local Transport Body' road plans.

Dear Mr Baker I am writing to you about the spending plans of the new Local Transport Bodies (LTBs). Research by Campaign for Better Transport shows that projects to build or expand roads make up most of the spending plans they have submitted to you. Only a quarter of projects are for public transport and sustainable travel, with no cycling schemes at all, and bus projects only making up 7% of the projects - compared with 22% of the final group of Department for Transport-funded local major transport schemes that were approved in 2011. Most LTBs also lack openness and transparency. Only 12 out of 38 LTBs had held or planned a public consultation on their spending plans. I would welcome the chance to join a public consultation on transport spending in my LTB area but I have not yet been given that chance. Getting this process right is important for this first set of project...
