Metro staff are on track to stardom with a new advertising campaign launched to highlight the ongoing £389m Metro: all change modernisation programme. Nexus, which owns and manages Metro, and DB Regio, the company which operates Metro trains on behalf of Nexus, have got their staff starring in the ad campaign, which is running on local radio and billboards across Tyne and Wear. The campaign highlights the progress of the modernisation work and the way in which it is transforming the 34-year-old Metro system. Since the Metro: all change programme started in 2010 stations have been modernised to make them brighter and cleaner. New smart ticket machines have been installed, 225 in total, along with electronic ticket gates at 13 key stations. Half of the Metro train fleet has been refurbished, with new seating, lighting and a new colour scheme. The train refurbishment project ...
