Merseytravel draft blueprint sets out 30 year vision for rail in the Liverpool City Region

A set of 12 rail priorities have been identified that will help improve links both within the Liverpool City Region and beyond and ensure the network is geared up for a significant increase in passengers and freight over the next 30 years. This potential package of schemes will form the basis of an update on the Long Term Rail Strategy to the Merseytravel Committee of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority next week (4th June). Members will be asked to support the progress of the strategy and approve submission of the draft for consideration at the next meeting of the Combined Authority (13th June). The strategy, developed by Merseytravel, as strategic transport advisor to the Combined Authority, essentially offers a vision of rail over the next 30 years.
