Fuel economy was key factor in the decision by The Travellers Choice to order six Jonckheere SHV-bodied B11Rs
Fuel economy was a key factor in the decision made by Carnforth-based The Travellers Choice to order six Jonckheere SHV-bodied B11Rs, which have been supplied by Volvo Bus (01926 401777). The Lancashire operator was one of Volvo’s first customers in the UK, taking delivery of its first coach from the Swedish manufacturer in 1972. The six latest additions mean that 90% of its fleet is Volvo-based. “Fuel economy of the B11R is excellent,” says MD John Shaw. “We have a long association with Volvo and the performance of these latest vehicles is already the very best we’ve experienced on a coach of that size.” Power comes from a 430bhp D11K engine driving through Volvo’s I-Shift automated transmission. The coaches seat 53 and have a servery and two TV screens.
