Join us, Brake, Greenpeace, 10:10 and others in our campaign against 80mph:

Campaign for Better Transport has joined a coalition of safety and environmental organisations to stop plans to increase the motorway speed limit. The No to 80 coalition includes road safety charity Brake, Greenpeace, Roadpeace, Road Victims Trust and 10:10 and we have a wide range of concerns about the proposals, which would cost the UK dearly in terms of increased fuel spending, more crashes and higher climate change emissions. As well as asking members of the public to sign up to the campaign, we have written to Transport Secretary Justine Greening today to request a meeting to review the evidence against an 80mph limit. The coalition has released a report setting out the economic costs of a move to 80mph , which estimates the combined cost to be more than £1 billion.
