On Thursday, 25 August and Friday, 26 August 2016, a number of drivers in the Western Sydney and Central Coast depots will be taking industrial action by not turning on Opal card readers for customers and not selling single trip tickets on both days. All Busways bus services will continue to operate as per timetable. The actions taken by members of the Transport Workers Union (TWU) will have a limited impact on services as only 35% of permanent employees are union members. The majority of Opal machines will still be operating so customers are advised to travel with their Opal card and tap on and tap off for their journey as they normally would unless the machines on a particular bus are not activated.
