Congress Passes Continuing Resolution to fund federal government programs to Dec.9.

​​(D​ownload Document in Adobe PDF format)​​​​ On Wednesday afternoon, by a vote of 72-26, the Senate passed a Continuing Resolution (CR; H.R. 5325) that funds federal government programs through December 9 at Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 levels. On Wednesday night, the House of Representatives passed the bill by a vote of 342-85. The President is expected to sign the bill before the ne w FY 2017 begins this weekend on October 1. Passage of the bill had been slowed in recent weeks over disagreements about the inclusion of Zika Virus assistance, and the question of whether that assistance could be used by Planned Parenthood, and the inclusion of aid for Louisiana flood victims, and assistance for Flint, Michigan water quality improvements.
