Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian today joined customers on the Neutral Bay ferry route to begin the trial of the new Opal card and electronic ticketing system. Ms Berejiklian said the number of customers putting their hand up to be part of the first Opal trial had exceeded expectations, with more than 200 people registering for a card. “I was delighted to join customers on day one of this exciting trial. Opal will transform the way people travel in NSW and mean an end to ticket queues and fumbling for coins,” Ms Berejiklian said. “The trial will allow customers to test the new electronic ticketing system on ferries in a live setting. “Customers are best placed to provide feedback on how the new ticketing system is working, and what needs fine tuning before it is rolled out to the rest of the transport network.” The customer trial starts today and is expected to be...
