Highly damaging road scheme at Stonehenge must be halted, say @cbtransport, @Roads2Nowhere

It believes that the changes made by Highways England do little to change the acceptability of the scheme or significantly reduce its damaging impacts. It is also concerned that Highways England has ignored the vast majority of respondents to the previous consultation who wanted there to be no further damage to the World Heritage Site. Chris Todd, from Campiagn for Better Transport, said: "Moving the road around within the World Heritage Site is a bit like sticking lipstick on a pig. No amount of tweaks and changes can cover up a fundamentally bad proposal which will cause massive damage to the World Heritage Site. Until the scheme is abandoned or put into a much longer tunnel, an important part of our heritage could be lost forever.
