Michael Kaine was speaking today (26.6.12), on the final day of arbitration before Fair Work Australia between the Transport Workers’ Union and Qantas, relating to the damaging lockout of staff by senior management last October. Michael commented, “Over the past number of months the TWU legal team has put our case on behalf of thousands of Qantas employees to the full bench of Fair Work Australia. Our case has always been based on reasonable improvements in wages and conditions and for commitments to job security. We have always stood ready to reach an agreement that secures our members futures and begins to heal the wounds inflicted by last October’s disastrous lockout of 35,000 staff.” “In stark contrast, the attitude of senior management has been arrogant, militant and incompetent.
