We have launched an Anti-Scutting Campaign to remind passengers of the dangers of tram scutting. For those that are not aware, tram scutting is when someone holds onto, or hangs from, the outside of a Luas tram. This is an extremely dangerous act for a number of reasons: Trams are traveling at such speeds that a person tram scutting could easily loose grip and fall off. Quite often trams have to emergency break, if there was person who is holding onto or hanging from the tram during that time they would fall off. There are certain sections of the track with limited space between permanent fixtures and other moving trams that would force a person tram scutting onto the tracks.
